The First Annual Cedar Mountain Workshop for Wedding Planners: Recap

On march 24th, 2018, The Farm at Cedar Mountain hosted it's first annual Workshop for wedding planners.

We can't tell you what a delight it was to have such incredible wedding planners and vendors come together to create an amazing day for our guests! We partnered with some of the best in the wedding world to develop a workshop that covered all of the facets of the wedding industry. Sometimes, as a business owner, working for yourself can become lonely and isolating. This workshop served to build up the wedding community in the D.C., Virginia and Maryland area. At the workshop, classroom style lectures with industry leaders were combined with hands-on activities so that our guests could learn tangible skills to implement into their future weddings.

Our workshop speakers incuded:

Sugar Taylor and Nar Hovnanian of Taylor and Hov Events

Laura Held, Owner & Principal Director, Ida Rose

Kate Pankoke, Creative Director of Elaya Vaughn

Elizabeth Carberry, Stylist and Event Designer

Kelci Alane, Kelci Alane Photography

Maria Darling Young, Lead Florist of Darling & Daughters

Catering by Get Plated, Owners Alex & Keyon Hammond

We had a fantastic day that started with a tour of the Farm. Our architects walked our guests through the new improvements that are being made to the Farm. We gathered some input from wedding planners on how to make our Farm the best wedding venue it can possibly be. Next, we listened to a talk from Kate Pankoke on how to help our brides choose their perfect wedding gown and care for the dress on wedding day. We had some fabulous food from Get Plated and learned about their expertise in farm-to-table catering. We were amazed by Maria Darling's incredible floral styling skills with a mock ceremony arch. We got to hear from Sugar and Nar on how to successfully marketing a wedding planning business on social media and Laura Held gave us tips n how to balance it all! For lunch, the lovely Elizabeth Carberry demonstrated how to set the perfect tables cape using the Pantone Color of the Year, Ultra Violet.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our Farm at Cedar Mountain First Annual Workshop!
